Golden Rose Rich Color 18

And yet another great shade from Golden Rose Rich Color line, unfortunately this beautiful vivid green refuses to be photographed properly.
Number 18 is a bright saturated shade of blue toned green that has perfect formula and application, and gel-like appearance and lasting time - even without top coat it remains chip free for several days.

I used 2 coats for it to be completely opaque, no top coat. With wide brush and creamy, fast-drying formula application is very quick and easy.
The shade is to die for, I have so many greens and nothing even remotely similar. I even looked to find something to compare it with, for reference sake, and nothing came even close.
It is more green and less blue than it looks like in these photos, and a bit more bright. Super fun shade for any time you need to brighten up your day. Also, with a good base coat it won't stain your nails after removal, which can be an issue with some greens.

I whole heartedly recommend it! Thanks for reading.

Dark red post

A little bit of what I've been wearing in the past week.

First one was meant to go in an 'old favorites' category, but I decided to make a combined post after all.
Essence Colour&Go in So Glamorous was among my first reds, got it in 2010 and it is long discontinued now.
To me, reds are notoriously difficult when it comes to capturing a true shade on camera. No way. This is not true to how it really looks, it's more like a color of the bottle and the cap. It's a blue toned cherry red, slightly darker than my usual red preference, I call this a Dita Von Teese shade. Classic and feminine.
Formula is still nice, but dries not so fast and tipwear shows very easy. 2 coats, no top coat.

Next one, a little darker blood red, is Aura Lotus Rouge. It says matt on the cap, but it's a straight up creme. Again, not color accurate, it looks brown based in these pics, and it's more purple based irl. Closer to color in the bottle, cool toned. 2 coats, no top coat. Dries fast and is very lasting, I wore it for three days with almost no tip wear.

Thanks for stopping by!

Essie Absolutely Shore & Revlon Whimsical

Absolutely Shore came out as a part of Essie's Summer 2011 collection and is a really pale, almost white green shade. The color is soft and not chalky, the formula is slightly tricky to work with, but overall I'm very glad to own it, because I really have nothing similar to it.

I used three thin coats and no top coat. The formula is a little thin and runny, prone to dragging of previous coats, and indeed requires some skills in polishing. In theory, 2 coats could be enough, opacity wise, because it's not at all sheer, but even three coats can't make it perfect on all nails.
It dries quickly and shiny and wears really well on me, easily 4-5 days without chipping. One thing worth mentioning - when I wore it last summer it looked much better, because I was not super pale as I am right now. It's not that it looks bad now but it simply doesn't stand out as much, it just needs a little tan to work. So it might not be such a great choice for pale skin tones.

After few days of wearing it, I though it would be a perfect base for Revlon Whimsical. Here are two coats of Whimsical over Absolutely Shore:

Whimsical is a pale blue-ish jelly base with rather sparse hexagonal pink and blue glitters, and there are also some tiny silver and green glitters there, but there is even less of those. Nice and delicate, good to layer for a fairy-princess look, not so much for everyday wear, at least for my taste. Here are two photos of Whimsical from before, on it's own, 3 coats. Excuse the yellow nails peeking through.

I changed my nail shape a little, as you can see. That's what happens when you decide to file your nails while watching Mad Men. I am not sure whether I want them full on almond-shaped or simply rounded. What do you think? Thanks for reading!

Old favorites - Aura Vip Infrarose

I haven't been around for a few days, but I was still photographing my nails. Last week I wore one of the first pinks in my collection (don't ask about this acute pink phase, it'll pass). This Aura shade came out in spring/summer of 2010, I got it then and wore several times; at the time it was much easier to wear the same polish twice or even three times, simly because there were much less of them.

This is a medium warm pink shade with a touch of coral and slight very subtle silver shimmer. The application was and still is great, formula is good, not too thick and 2 coats make it look perfect. Dries fast and is really lasting on me.

I figure this is long gone from the shelves, but shouldn't be too difficult to find something similar, I think.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Golden Rose Rich Color 46

Golden Rose recently came out with bunch of new spring/summer shades for their Rich Color line, that I'm very fond of from my past experience. I own 5-6 of them already, and when I saw on Vedrana's blog that new shades were available, I rushed out to the store to check them out. This one was my first pick. I am very low on pinks, and have nothing even closely similar to this.
This is so not my type of color! I don't know what got into me. Even my boyfriend laughed at me for wearing it, but I can't help it - I really dig this plastic, Barbie-look.
To my uneducated on pinks eye, this is a perfect mix of baby and Barbie pink. It's light to medium shade and more on the cool side, but not too cool toned. Not pastel-stark either, much more saturated in color than pastels, but it does have a lot of white in its base. It also has tiny silver shimmer that's otherwise invisible, except in macro-mode. I'd say the photos are very close to accurate.

Here are two coats and no top coat. The formula is similar to other Rich Color polishes, thick and pigmented, but is a little tricky because of it's pastel nature. Do not attempt thin coats like I did here, with this formula and semi-rough brush it won't be possible. Just do your best with thick coats and it will all settle down once dry. It does not bubble which is a big plus, even with really thick coats. In my pics you can see some bald spots, mostly because of my ridged nails, but it wasn't too visible in reality so I left it like that, and learned my lesson for the next time - thicker coats and perhaps a few drops of thinner.
Aside from the formula issues, it dries really fast, glossy, and lasts a good few days before chipping, just like expected.
The color is probably not for everyone, myself included, but perhaps give it a go and you might just be surprised ;) Thanks for stopping by!
